ISLAMABAD President Asif Ali Zardari has written a letter to the Pope of Vatican City to get his support to mobilise the international donors community for more aid to Pakistan, TheNation has learnt. When this scribe contacted on Thursday, Shahbaz Bhatti confirmed that he was leaving to Rome taking a letter of the President for the Pope. I would meet the Pope of the Church of Rome and deliver the letter him. I have no other engagements expect to see the Pope. I will stay for a couple of days there, he added. To a question, he said that the letter is all about the destruction caused during the recent flash floods in Pakistan. In the letter, the President has explained the whole destruction and sufferings of the flood victims. To another question, he said that the prime objective of the visit was to deliver the message of the President of Pakistan to the Pope. He also said that he would likely to take up the Quran burning plan announced by the pastor of Florida. He said this is time of inter-faith harmony. Any extremist from any religion shouldnt be allowed at any cost to create instability and unrest, he added.
