RAWALPINDI A protest rally was taken out jointly by Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamat, Jammat-e-Islami, Shabab-e-Milli and Islami Jammiat Talaba on Friday in Raja Bazaar to denounce the plan to burn the Holy Quran by a US church. Besides JASWJ, JI, SM and IJT workers, hundreds of citizens belonging to various walks of life also participated in the rally, which was taken from Daarul Aloom Taleem-ul-Quran to Fawara Chowk Raja Bazaar. The rally was led by JSAWJ Ameer Maulana Ashraf Ali, JI city General Secretary Shamas-ur-Rehman Swati and SM President Haji Muhammad Tahir and IJT Nazim Imran Khan. Holding party flags, placards and banners inscribed with slogans in favour of Islam and against USA, the enraged protestors also chanted full-throated slogans like Americans Ka Ik He Ilaj, Al Jihad Al Jihad and Down with US. Heads of all Islamic parties, while addressing, strongly condemned and denounced the planned shameful burning of 200 copies of Holy Quran by a small Florida Church on September 11. They said that this blasphemous thinking of a pastor had inflamed the sentiments among Muslims across the world and caused irreparable damage to interfaith harmony and also world peace. In this situation, the criminal silence on the part of Islamic rulers on the issue is also regrettable. They should boycott diplomatic relations with USA, they demanded. During the entire episode, there was a traffic snag on Raja Bazaar and all its adjoining roads, which caused inconvenience for commuters.
