LAHORE - The Punjab Fisheries Department on the special directive of Chief Minister Punjab has constituted a number of mobile teams to check the illegal netting of fish especially during the Eidul Fitr holidays. According to Director General Fisheries Punjab Muha-mmad Ashraf Chaud-hary, the government had banned netting of all species of fish without license or permit throughout the province. Those violating the order will be awarded six months rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 5,000 besides seizure of their catch and other paraphernalia. He said several raiding teams, each headed by Assistant Director, Inspectors and Supervisors would raid and take strict action against those caught netting illegally. The DG said In-charge Director provincial surveillance team Dr Sikandar Hayat has also been instructed to raid their respective areas especially in the river or lake areas.
