QUETTA - For the first time in the history of the country, a special meeting of the federal cabinet will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) in the provincial capital to review the implementation of Aghaz-i-Haqooq-i-Balochistan and gauge the development need of the province. The federal cabinet will also discuss law and order in Balochistan, development activities particularly initiated by federal government under the Balochistan package. Balochistan was passing through a critical situation when the PPP government took powers after 2008 elections. The PPP-led government announced Aghaz Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package to overcome the turmoil. The nationalists complain that package contains no concrete assurances regarding their demands including Baloch peoples right to self-rule over natural resources, the main demand of the people of the province. Despite announcement of Balochistan package the series of whisking away Baloch political workers and low-scale military drives remained continue across the province that further increased mistrust between Baloch and federal government. Baloch nationalist leaders have been claiming that more than 12,000 Baloch political workers have been picked by intelligence agencies and blaming the PPP for towing the policies of former president Pervez Musharraf. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in a joint sitting of parliament had promised that all missing people will reach their homes. Contrary to that, within few months the bodies of missing people started reaching homes. More than 12,000 Baloch activists have been picked by intelligence agencies and security forces while series of abducting youth have been also increased manifold during present so-called democratic government, Agha Hassan Baloch, Information secretary Balochistan National Party-Mengal claimed.
