JAM SAJJAD HUSSAIN LAHORE It seems that the high-ups of the traffic police have showed some mercy on the traffic wardens, deployed in sizzling heat, by giving them 4,000 imported water bottles. Earlier, the traffic wardens during several official meetings had demanded to provide them water bottles which they badly need in hot weather. The traffic police will also replace ordinary caps with hats often used during cricket. Punjab IG Javed Iqbal approved the brainchild of Chief Traffic Officer SSP Syed Ahmed Mobin. After the approval by IG Punjab, over 30 samples of different companies were demanded and were checked at Traffic Police Lines a few days back. The SP Traffic Headquarters and Technical Purchase Committee of Traffic Police Chairman Maroof Masood Wahla supervised the test and finally the authorities concerned decided to import the approved sample. Yes, the temperature of the imported bottle was quite satisfactory that is why we imported these bottles in a large quantity, Mobin said. He said two litres water was filled twice by the traffic vehicles during the eight hours shift. He revealed that two tests drinkable and bacterial were conducted by PCSIR laboratories before filling. We have also planned to replace ordinary caps with sufficient diameter hats while the step of new uniform is also in the pipeline.
