KARACHI Pakistans leading professional golfer M Muneer won the open crown with 11-under-205. In the third round, he fired par 72 to win Rs 153,000 in prize money. Ansar Mahmood of Navy finished second with six-under-210 to get Rs 103,000. Defending champion Shabbir Iqbal of Navy finished third at four-under-212 to clinch a purse of Rs 64,000. Sajid Khan of Arabian Sea Country Club covered himself with glory when he won his second back-to-back amateur title in 10 days winning in the Byco 13th Sindh Open here the other day in style with a total of 12-over-228 in the three-day 54-hole event. He added three-over-75 in third and final round to his first round 76 and second round 77. Only 10 days ago he had won the UMA 16th CNS Open amateur title at the KGC. He beat an experienced field of opponent which also included PGF Secretary Taimur Hasan who finished disappointing fifth at 19-over-230. M Rehman finished second one strike behind at 13-under-229. CEO Byco Aamir Abbassicy was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. In his brief speech on the occasion, he said the last fiscal year has been most eventful for his company. Various sports events were sponsored in order to promote them on national basis. This was the second consecutive time that Byco sponsored this event. Also present on the occasion were Arabian Sea Country Club CEO Arif Ali Khan Abbasi, Secretary PGF Taimur Hassan, Vice President Sindh Golf Association Asad IA Khan and Arshad IA Khan. Dr Tariq Raz of ASCC conducted the prize distribution ceremony. M Afzal of Hyderabad Golf Club was awarded special cash award of Rs 10,000 to Afzal. Ghani Khan of KGC won the senior professional title with a gross of 142 and an enhanced purse of Rs 35,000. Abdul Hameed of Islamabad and M Ilyas of Gymkhana shared the second spot with identical gross of 145 each. Both of them won Rs 29,000 each. Asad IA Khan won the senior amateur title played over 36 hole with gross of 164. He played fine in the second round with the score of six-over-78. Brig Hasan Rafi finished second with 167. KGC captain Pervez Ansari won senior amateur net category title with a score o 150.
