TOBA TEK SINGH - Negotiations between the Power Looms Owners Association (POA) and Power Loom Workers Association (PWA) failed to reach any agreement, prompting the workers association to announce that it would continue strike for an indefinite period. DCO Javed Iqbal Bukhari had called a joint meeting of both the associations wherein he asked the POA office-bearers to implement the agreement signed two weeks ago between the workers and owners. However, the POA backtracked from its words regarding the 15 percent raise in the wages, claiming that that they were already running looms in losses. The DCO, however, assured the delegation of workers consisted of Akhtar Abbas, Tariq Mahmood and Nadeem Ashraf that he would contact other districts to know their wages and workers of Toba would also be paid the same wages. MPA Mian Muhammad Rafiq also attended the joint meeting and assured the workers of his full cooperation for their demand for a raise in the wages.
