HAFIZABAD - The International Population Day was observed under the auspices of District Population Department here on Monday. A walk was held in the city to create awareness among the public regarding the population explosion which is creating multiple problems in the society. A seminar World at 7 Billion was also held in which speakers including DCO M Asif, MPA Assadullah, DO SW Nawaz Ghohar, enumerated the dangerous repercussion to ever-rising population due to which unemployment, hunger, disease and lawlessness has increased manifold. On the occasion, District Population Welfare Officer Shahzad Aslam said the department has evolved strategy to control birth ratio and called on the people to cooperate with the department and avail facilities being offered by the department to decrease birth ratio. Due to the efforts of the Population Welfare Department the population growth has been brought down to 1.9 per cent he added. He further said that at present 45 lakh children born every year in the country.
