OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE The regional Customs Collectorate has collected Rs16.26, surpassing its target of Rs15.89 billion set for the fiscal year 2010-11. The net collection of duty and taxes during 2010-2011 stood at Rs5.8 billion as against the net collection of taxes of Rs4.42 billion during the last financial year 2009-10 which is 2 percent more than the previous year. The measures taken by the Collectorate included liquidation of stuck up revenue, enhancement of securities and auction of overstayed goods and vehicles against which a significant amount of Rs4.2 billion was realized during the year, said Collector of Customs Khawaja Umar Mehdi in a press release. He said that the collection of revenue of Rs12875.53 million through Dryports and POL Machikay was increased by 30.79 percent as compared to the last fiscal year when an amount of Rs9843.87 million was collected.
