MIRPUR (AJK) - Re-polling at 50 polling stations of LA-VI (Bhimbher II, Samani) was held on Monday in a free, fair and peaceful atmosphere, officials said. AJK elections commission had announced the schedule for holding of re-polling in the constituency on the demand of candidates after reports of disturbance during the AJK LA elections in this constituency on June 26. The re-polling started at 8:00 am and continued till 5:00 pm without any pause. However, the voters present at the premises of the polling stations were also allowed to use their right of vote after the stipulated time, sources told APP on Monday evening. The returning officer of the electoral constituency LA-6, Mian Naeem Ullah, told this scribe that polling on the remaining 50 polling stations of the constituency was held in a peaceful atmosphere. He said security officials were deputed at each polling station to maintain law and order situation. The vote counting was underway in LSA-VI Bhimbher II Samani. Meanwhile, the AJK police have arrested four accused including a woman allegedly belonging to the family of a PML-N candidate contesting elections from LA-VI (Bhimbher II, Samani) constituency and recovered fake ballot papers and stamps from their possession.
