LAHORE (INP) - The Supreme Court has granted bail on Monday to Malik Ishaq, the head of banned organisation Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, accused of planning an attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore in 2009. Ishaq had appealed to the SC against the decision of Lahore High Court which had rejected his bail plea. The case was heard by Justice MA Shahid Siddiqui at the Lahore registry. Malik Ishaq had been accused of plotting the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team while he was in prison. According to the defence attorney, the chargers against Ishaq could not be proved and thus the court approved his bail. The court has directed him to submit two separate security bonds worth Rs 500,000. It is pertinent to mention here that Malik Ishaq was imprisoned prior to being accused of plotting the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team.
