ISLAMABAD -Worst batting, drop catches cost Pakistan dearly as the green caps were thrown out of the Champions Trophy in the first hurdle.

It was hoped that the team management would finally wake up and select a better playing XI in the do-or-die match, but all the expectations of the millions of Pakistan team followers were shattered, when the team was announced for the crucial match against South Africa.

Once again the selectors keep faith in their blue-eyed Imran Farhat, who despite a flop throughout his career, managed to get berth in crucial match. Farhat once again lived up to his reputation but further enhanced it by throwing his wicket cheaply, as Morris shattered his stumps after scoring two. Just to accommodate Farhat, the selectors are doing a great injustice to not only the team but also to the entire nation, as Kamran Akmal, who is completely out of form because his services are not being utilized properly. He can only score while batting at the top order and everyone is fully aware of this simple fact, but the selectors are completely unaware of this reality.

Shoaib Malik has now played too many matches just because of his past reputation and this is the time to get rid of him. Sacking Farhat, Malik and some other will help in inducting new and promising talent which will not only fill their gap with superb performances but also help the team win crucial matches.

One thing which must be clarified by the PCB and especially the deposed chairman Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf that on what grounds Dave Whatmore is still at the helm of affairs. He has been destroying Pakistan team and no one else in the past had inflicted such kind of damage to the team. He is least bothered about Pakistan team’s poor show and remains satisfied with the team’s performance as his side has done wonders and lifted the coveted trophy.

On what grounds and reasons Trent Woodhill was hired as batting consultant? His arrival further deteriorated batting, how on earth PCB could justify hiring of such low and below average coach? There is absolutely no need of having foreign coaches who produce such pathetic results. Pakistani coaches are famous for producing many greats and they can give far better results than Dave Wahtmore and company and that too at much lesser price. Pakistan can't afford these luxuries of paying these three guys in dollars. The time is ripe when newly-elected Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, who is a great fan of sports and especially cricket, must take notice of all the wrongdoings in the PCB and immediately remove the incumbent PCB management from top to bottom and appoint an ad-hoc set up for the time being and then replace them with true sports lovers who may have know how about the game.

The way Pakistani batsmen threw their wickets, it was looking like school going kids were playing against fully-grown men.

Umar Akmal is a great future prospect but all the coaches have been wasting this immensely talented player and destroying his confidence. He is young and promising player and has fighting spirit which is required at this level.

Time has come to say good bye to all those individuals who have been failing to perform since long. It was earlier made cleared that the current Pakistan squad is not even worthy of playing and winning against ordinary sides and the Champions Trophy is a far cry, as the team lacks genuine all-rounders, when players like Sohail Tanveer, Hammad Azam and specialist ODI player Abdul Razzaq services were very much available to the PCB, then why the selectors ignored the simple fact that shorter version of the game is all about all-rounders.

The team proved each and every word right by giving such worst performances in all departments of the game with the exception of bowling and that too by some certain individuals. Junaid failed to fill the void left by Umer Gul absence while Wahab bowled well in the first game, but looked off color in the second. Saeed Ajmal like always stood firm and proved his mettle but what was the purpose of taking Abdul Rehman and not giving him chance to showcase his abilities. It would have been far better to pick Raza Hasan than Rehman but the selectors had other ideas.

Iqbal Qasim has completely failed to justify his position as a chief selector. He only prefers players from one certain province and his selected squad brought miseries for the country and fans.

After such dismal performance of the team, the PCB must accept their responsibility and should have mercy on cricket mad fans and give resignations immediately so that better, sincere and hardworking officials may run the PCB’s affairs and promote the game to its best.
