LAHORE - Pakistan No 1 tennis player Aqeel Khan set 1st SNGPL All Pakistan Men and Women Tennis Championship 2015 men’s singles final clash against Shahzad Khan to be played today (Friday) here at the Cosmopolitan Club.

In the first semi-final of men’s singles, Aqeel Khan defeated M Abid 2-6, 6-1, 6-4. Abid started the match with great style and managed to win the first set easily 6-2. Aqeel then played his natural game and easily won the second set 6-1. Although Abid showed some resistance in the third set, yet experienced Aqeel showed his class and won the third and decisive set 6-4 to book berth in the final. In the second semi-final of the same category, Shahzad Khan edged out Yasir Khan, younger brother of Aqeel, 6-4, 6-4 to set a final clash against Aqeel.

The men’s doubles final was won by pair of Yasir Khan and Shahzad Khan who outlasted Aqeel Khan and Heera Ashiq 6-4, 6-3. The women’s singles title went to Khushna Babar who routed Noor Malik 7-5, 6-3. The boys U-14 title was lifted by Huzaifa Abdul Rehman who managed win against struggling Nauman Aftab 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 while Muzamal Murtaza defeated Abdul Haider 7-5, 7-6(6) to claim the boys U-18 title.
