ISLAMABAD : Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar on Thursday said that the government is committed to reforming the energy sector and had taken unprecedented steps for the purpose.

He made these remarks during a meeting with Rachidbenmessoud, Country Director World Bank and Werner E. Liepach, Country Head of ADB to review progress on the energy sector Development Policy Credit (DPC).

The Minister appreciated the assistance of both the development partners, WB and ADB, and hoped that the trust and cooperation would continue in future. ADB and World Bank country heads appreciated the steps taken by the Government to reform the energy sector which had been possible due to the persistent efforts of the present government and its economic team led by Minister Dar.

It may be mentioned that ADB, World Bank and JICA are providing $1 billion support for the energy sector reform.

Secretary Finance, Dr Waqar Masood, Secretary Water and Power, Younus Dhaga, Additional Secretary to Finance Minister, Tariq Mahmood Pasha, Joint Secretary Awais Manzoor, DG ERU, Khaqan Najeeb and other senior officials attended the meeting.
