LAHORE - Newly-appointed DIG Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Ahmad Raza Tahir has said he would peacefully leave his office if the Punjab government appoints someone else at this post. He expressed these views while addressing to a press briefing here on Tuesday at his office, the CCPO said he always respected the decisions of court but he was appointed by the Punjab Government as CCPO so if the government intends to hire the services of any other officer then he would definitely quit the office. If I continue then the public will observe change in society within three months. I will change Thana culture by forcing the Station House Officers (SHOs) to personally visit the localities of their jurisdiction, he added. Ahmad Raza said each SHO was fully aware off about the crime dens and about the whereabouts of criminals. He also pledged, I will nab big fish of crime syndicates instead to waste time in arresting the criminals who commit acts under these dons. The CCPO also said the streets crimes would be eliminated within three months. I will hire the services of Intelligence agencies in order to eradicate the crime from the bud, he added. The CCPO said he would seek a written letter from each SP that no crime act would be committed in his locality. Every SP and SHO will be responsible of each kind of crime act in their localities concerned and severe legal will be taken against them, he warned. While appreciating the role of former CCPO Mohammad Pervez Rathore, Ahmad Raza said he was philanthropic officer who always did well not only in favour of public but for the subordinates also. It is worth mentioning the Lahore High Court Chief Justice took suo moto notice on Tuesday early regarding the appointment of the CCPO taking it ill legal, he advised the Punjab Government to withdraw notification order of the CCPO within 24 hours otherwise serious action under contempt of code will be taken against the Punjab government.
