ISLAMABAD - A National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team reached New York on Tuesday evening to take former president of Bank of Punjab (BOP), Hamesh Khan, into custody. NAB spokesman Ghazni Khan confirmed that a two-member NAB team comprising Deputy Prosecutor General Raja Aamir Abbas and Deputy Director NAB Punjab Rizwan Khan had left for America to take the custody of Bank of Punjab President Hamesh Khan so that he could be brought back for pending trial in the Rs 9 billion scam. Ghazni Khan said that NAB team would provide evidence to the US Justice Department to materialise the extradition of Hamesh Khan, who is also having US nationality. It is pertinent to mention here that US Justice Department had asked the Government of Pakistan to come up with documentary evidence for the extradition of Hamesh Khan and NAB team was dispatched to America to fulfil the US requirement. Pakistan Foreign Office had sent a letter to US administration for extradition of Hamesh Khan, which had been forwarded to Washington. As soon as US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton issues directions, Hamesh Khan would be handed over to Pakistan authorities.
