LAHORE - A ceremony was arranged by the nursing school of Lahore General Hospital to celebrate the World Nursing Day here on Tuesday. Director administration of the hospital Capt (r) Dr Abdul Basit, nursing school principal Ishrat Ishaq and nursing students addressed the ceremony. Dr Basit said nurses care patients with a passion to serve the ailing humanity. He said nurses continue to work with commitment and dedication during peace and war. He said nurses should follow in the footsteps of Florence Nightingale, who was a role model for them. Dr Basit urged the nursing students to enhance the dignity of the profession in the society by setting an example for others. He hoped that the nursing students would improve their performance and play their role in making the hospital a modern medical institution. Ishrat Ishaq said nurses are highly respected in every civilized society for the services they render for the ailing humanity. She said the government has taken a number of steps for providing higher education to nurses and their welfare. Deputy chief nursing superintendent, administrators, instructors and a large number of nurses and nursing students attended the ceremony.
