LAHORE - The District and Sessions Court on Thursday in a habeas corpus petition issued a show-cause notice to three officials of the CIA including SP Umar Virk for detaining a person illegally. As per the petition, ASI Muhammad Abid along with 10 police constables did lift the son of (petitioner) Munir Ahmad from Islam Shop. The petitioner maintained that on Nov 08, 2010 he opened a shop (steel scrap trading) which a client namely Abdullah visited one day. The client told him that he used to purchase scrap from different factories. The petitioner said he purchased the pieces of iron rods from the client and paid him Rs 60, 000. I sent the merchandise to Islam Shop for getting early and suitable payment. Later on when my son Faizan visited the said shop to receive the payment, ASI Abid arrested him there, he added. Munir said he contacted police concerned to get his son released. But they, he added, on the contrary asked him to disclose name of the 'thief otherwise they would initiate strict action against his son. The petitioner prayed to the court for the recovery of his son. Upon which the court on Thursday issued a show-cause notice to CIA SP Umar Virak, DSP Khalid Abu Bakar and ASI Abid Ali. The court also ordered the police officials concerned to appear before the court along with the detenue Faizan on November 12, 2010 (today). Body found Body of a 27-year-old man was found from a rickshaw parked in an empty plot near B-block Sabzazaar on Thursday. Nawankot police said that some locals spotted the body lying in the rickshaw and informed them about it over the phone. The police after recovering the body took it to the police station. The heirs of the deceased approached the police after they listened to an announcement made from a nearby mosque. Earlier, it was being assumed that Fiaz Hussain died natural death. But the family of the deceased rejecting this claim said that he had been murdered by some unidentified accused and the police had been hushing up the matter. No case was registered till filing of this report.
