KARACHI Karachi Blues gave robust reply to NBP first innings total of 349 when they reached 231 for five at the close of second days play in the four day Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Division I match at National Stadium here Thursday. Karachi openers Naveed Khan and Ramiz Raza put on 129 for the opening stand before NBP struck taking four wickets. Naveed Khan got out after making 62 of 136 balls and Ramiz Raja made 69 of 82 balls. Earlier in the day NBP resuming at 251 for five added 100 more runs for the remaining wickets. Qaiser Abbas added 43 and Muhammad Talha 39 as the bankers crossed 300 mark. Medium pacer Baber Rehman was the most successful bowler for Karachi. He took four for 87. Leg spinner Adnan Maik captured three for 100 and Adeel Maik had two for 45. Muhammad Talha and Uzair ul Haq struck for the NBP when Karachi Blues went in for their turn. Uziar broke the opening stand when he removed Naveed Khan and finished the day with 2 for 47. Talha also had two for 73. Friday is the third day of the match.
