LAHORE - PIA has completed its pre-Haj operation from all stations of Pakistan. The airline operated 255 Haj flights from Pakistan carrying 102,997 intending pilgrims to Holy Land with a flight technical punctuality of 94pc. PIA spokesman said here on Thursday. He said that PIA last year transported 115,346 intending Hajis through 282 flights to Saudi Arabia. PIAs pre-Haj operation commenced from 11 October 2010 and concluded on Thursday. PIA carried 20,268 intending Haj pilgrims from Karachi through 46 Haj flights, 22,923 from Islamabad through 50 flights, 21,480 through 49 flights from Lahore, 18,770 through 58 flights from Peshawar 10,736 through 33 flights from Quetta, 4,159 through 09 flights from Sialkot and 4,661 intending Hajis through 10 flights from Multan. PIA also carried 14,738 intending pilgrims to the Holy Land through the airlines regular scheduled flights. A few delays were witnessed due to immigration and clearance issues of Hajis at the airports in Pakistan. On the instructions of Managing Director PIA, Captain Muhammad Aijaz Haroon, PIAs Haj team comprising of representatives from all departments prepared a comprehensive plan for bringing back the returning Hajis. The post-Haj operation of bringing back the Hajis will commence from November 21, 2010 and end on 21 December 2010.
