KARACHI - In order to ensure supply of sugar in sufficient quantity, comprehensive efforts of the Punjab Government have lowered the price of sugar by Rs20 per kg across the province. These views were expressed by Punjab Minister for Food and Industries, Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor, while meeting with the Chairman Port Qasim, Vice Marshal, Muhammad Shafi here on Thursday. Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor said that sugar would start reaching in the market soon as it was being dispatched to the province through rail and road transport and it would be available in abundance for the consumers. The minister expressed concerns over the increasing price of fertilizer available in the market at Rs3,200. Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor maintained the fertilizer was being sold earlier at Rs2500per bag. The increase in the price of the said commodity has created problems for the farmer community, saying that Federal Government must take appropriate action in this regard otherwise it would create another serious crisis for the masses. Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor added that PML (N) had always given importance to the national issues and the Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, was very much active to resolve national issues including the rehabilitation of affectees of national disasters. On this occasion, Chairman Port Qasim informed that the sugar was being transported day and night, adding that the process would be continued even during the holidays of Eid-ul-Azha. He also ensured his full cooperation to dispatch sugar to Punjab in time. Earlier, the minister inspected the loading activities of sugar at Port Qasim.
