LAHORE - A writ petition yesterday was filed in the Lahore High Court seeking action young doctors for going for protests and denying health services to even critical patients at public hospital.

Najaf Abbas Shah filed the petition submitting that a few young doctors had been on strike for many days, causing suspension of health facilities at the hospitals. Not only patients in the hospitals but commuters had also been facing severe problems due to the doctors’ protests, he said.

He said the law did not permit the doctors to refuse medical facility to any patient. He pointed out at least three deaths have been reported in Lahore after the patients were not attended by doctors at hospitals.

He asked the court to order the provincial government to take stern action against the doctors and also order the police to register criminal cases against them.
