ISLAMABAD - Diamond Club Islamabad started Gujranwala trip with a thumping 7-wicket victory over Combined Club Gujranwala played at Gujranwala Stadium Friday. Combine Club's 178 runs proved an easy target for Diamond with Ali Nadim hitting 60 and young Rohail Nazir scoring a polished 54. Combine Club scored 170 in 26 overs in a match restricted to 35 overs. Zohaib Jamil scored 53 runs and Bilal Riaz hit 25. Left-arm spinner Abdul Majid claimed 3 wickets for 8 runs and leg-spinner Najam Khan chipped in with 2 for 21. Earlier at Diamond Ground, Islamabad, Whites and Blues teams of Club drew a 3-day match but the young guns gained lot of experience. Chief organiser Moeid Shaikh has been regularly holding 3-day matches to give experience to Club players for longer version of the game.
