KARACHI - A water tanker fell off a bridge, killing the driver and wounding at least six people in the Shershah locality of the city on Friday.

Police said that speed caused the accident. Rescue and police officials reached the scene and took the injured to the Civil Hospital for treatment. The injured were identified as Gul Noor, Khawaja Ali, Farooq Ashraf, Safdar, Abbas Bakhsh, Nadeem Shafiq and Abdul Ghafoor. Tanker driver Safdar, resident of Baldia Town, died during treatment at the hospital.

22kg opium recovered

The Shikarpur police, on a tip-off, Thursday night led by SHO New Faujdari Mumtaz Marwat stopped a car near toll plaza and recovered 22 kilograms high quality Opium.

The police also arrested the peddler, identified as Ghulam Rasool Phulpoto of Khairpur, he was taking the opium from KPK to Khairpur.

ASP, Shikarpur City, Muhammad Kaleem Malik in a press conference said that the drug is worth of Rs 22 lac.

He informed that an FIR has been registered and further investigations are underway.
