Rawalpindi - PTDC has planned to construct a motel with modern facilities for the tourists at Naltar, Gilgit, its managing director said.

Pakistan Tourism and Development Corporation (PTDC) Managing Director (MD) Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Khan said this while talking to media men yesterday.

On the request of PTDC, the Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman, has allotted a 30 kanals land at Naltar for construction of a motel by PTDC with modern facilities near the PAF Skiing Slopes.

He added that GB Chief Minister has agreed that in future, all official meetings and conferences will be held in PTDC motels for which PTDC will provide special discounted rates for the events.

A specific calendar of tourism event will be chalked out for Gilgit-Baltistan that would include four-season events. A special car-rally with colourful cars and SUVs carrying friendship flags will be organized from Islamabad to China in near future. 

He said being the starting point of CPEC in Pakistan, Gilgit Baltistan region is a land of opportunities, and domestic people would ultimately benefit from the economic corridor.  

MD has appreciated the interest shown by the GB government for the promotion in the area. While expressing his views he also stated that GB government has a vibrant plan to install and operate a chairlift and provide other facilities at Naltar aimed at ensuring entertainment and amusement facilities for visitors.  

He has expressed the hope that such steps will definitely bring about prosperity in the area. In order to facilitate the tourists, PTDC and Gilgit Baltistan government will join hands mutually and have close cooperation with each other to ensure provision of modern facilities to the tourists.
