LAHORE: Two children died and the father wounded seriously when a truck smashed into their motorcycle on Multan Road in Manga Mandi police precincts yesterday.

Rescuers said that the children, aged 7 and 9, died on the spot.

Muhammad Ashraf was taking them to school when they had the accident near the Industrial Area. The truck driver managed escape.

Rescue workers shifted the father to hospital. The police reached the spot and handed over the bodies to the family.  Police filed a case and launched investigation but no arrest was made till filing of this report.

Man crushed under train

A 32-year-old man was crushed to death under a train near Badami Bagh station. Police were yet to ascertain the identity of the victim. The body was moved to morgue.

An eyewitness told the police that the man was trying to cross the railways line when the Lahore-bound Night Coach ran over him. The man died on the spot.

­Man found dead

A 50-year-old man was found dead from Qila Gujjar Singh police area. The body, unidentified so far, was moved to the morgue for autopsy.

Investigators said the man was lying dead alongside a footpath in Royal Park as they reached the spot. Some passersby spotted the body and alerted the police by phone. Police were investigating the death.–Staff Reporter


They went on: “We want graveyard anywhere in Lahore. Punjab government can also allocate small piece of land in any Christian graveyard or allow us separate land.”

The protesters threatened to take The Mall with the dead body if the government didn’t heed to their problem.
