LAHORE - PML-N workers yesterday staged a strong protest against unavailability of electricity and gas during the visit of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to his constituency NA-122.

The speaker was talking to the media when some of the workers started sloganeering against the government. They lamented the lawmakers never bother to visit their area after coming into power.

One of protesters, Malik Shafiq, attempted to talk to the speaker to raise his concerns but he was ousted by other party workers and office-bearers. Citing other development projects, Ayaz Sadiq assured the protesting workers of solving their problems at the earliest.

Later talking to the media, he asked his party supporters to show patience as the government would soon get over energy crisis. He said the government was wasting no time to provide relief to the masses. He said he was personally supervising ongoing development projects his constituency.

To a question about  his government term, Ayaz Sadiq said the PML-N will complete its tenure.  He said such rumours have been aired since 2002.

About SC decision in favour of Defence Minister Khwaja Asif, he said this is a landmark decision and the rival PTI has no other option but to accept the verdict. He hoped Minister for Railways Khwaja Saad Rafiq would also win the case.

He opposed the PTI politics of protest and invited the opposition party to discuss issues on the floor of parliament.

He said the PTI Chairman Imran Khan talked about the ‘35-puncture’ (means rigging in last elections) but his all claims turned out to be false and hollow.

Ayaz Sadiq avoided passing remarks on Panama leaks case and hoped it would be decided soon.

About the replacement of former Sindh governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad, the speaker said: “It is prerogative of the federal government and the prime minister to consult and appoint a governor whosoever they want,” he said.
