Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) on Saturday felicitated Malala Yousafzai for winning Nobel Prize and stressed the concerted efforts to bring an end to the brutal denial of education right to women.

WPC coordinator WPC Ali Kazmi, in a statement, said the caucus lauded the recognition to Malala Yousafzai’s unparalleled struggle and sacrifice for the cause of women education. He said as a large proportion of the female child population in country continued to be denied the constitutionally mandated right to education, Malala’s voice symbolised courage, strength, patience and hope. “Malala represents the quintessential Pakistani woman, resilient in her struggle against socio-cultural practices that impede her progress and development.

“A single voice, however strong, is not sufficient to effectively challenge the misogynist practices that plague the society.” Kazmi said education is critical to the development and progress of women.
