KARACHI - Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Advisor on Interior Affairs Rehman Malik said on Thursday that all possible measures would be taken to stabilize economy, bolster investment and provide security to traders. Talking to a delegation of traders and industrialists at Governor's House, they said that a major breakthrough is being achieved in this regard at federal and provincial level. Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq, PPP leaders Rashid Rabbani, Waqar Mahdi and other high officials were also present on the occasion. The interior advisor said that durable peace and political stability is mandatory for the economic growth; therefore, the government is working on this agenda on priority basis. He said: "The partnership of PPP and MQM is also vital for the development of the country and Sindh province, adding it was the vision of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed that there should be alliance of progressive forces for the best interests of the country." Rehman Malik said that he had held a meeting with MQM chief Altaf Hussain two years back on the directives of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed and prepared a roadmap for the cooperation. He said that the Sindh Governor had played a great role in boosting relations between the two parties. Altaf Hussain introduced me to Ishratul Ibad who led this task to progress, the advisor added. Rehman Malik said that it was Altaf Hussain who first proposed Asif Ali Zardari as new President of Pakistan while others followed it later. Rehman Malik said a special elite force would be formed for the security of trade and industrial activities. He also announced establishing industrial police stations in five industrial sites of Karachi. The police officers of DIG rank will be the heads of this system while an SP would also be deployed in each zone. He said that they are making such legislation under which use of snatched mobile phones and spread of panic-creating messages would be halted.
