He said although after the summer vacation in the courts, lawyers' movement had gained momentum as Thursday's rally was well attended. He said the lawyers were struggling to infuse new passion in the lawyers movement and in near future they would initiate a decisive movement which would compel the government to restore the sacked chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. He added that till the reinstatement of all the judges, lawyers would continue their movement. Earlier, the Lahore High Court Bar Association resolved that the lawyers did not recognise oath taking of president Asif Ali Zardari a constitutional step as he had taken oath from an unconstitutional chief justice Abdul Hameed Dogar. Through a resolution, the lawyers also reiterated that legal fraternity only recognise Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry as the constitutional CJP. Rejecting the way adopted by government for restoration of judges, the bar also demanded the immediate reinstatement of Pre-November 3 judiciary. Addressing the general house meeting, the lawyers expressed the hope that CJP and all deposed judges would be restored as a result of lawyers' unprecedented sacrifices. They said the president Zardari and prime minister were not more powerful than Musharraf saying the Zardari should have taken oath from Justice Iftikhar after restoring him in the line with PPP martyred leader Benazir Bhutto' will. They said they want to establish rules of law and eliminate corruption that had crippled county's institutions. They said the lawyers were the only segment of society that stood firm against Musharraf and finally he had to quit. They said they had doubts from day one that PPP leadership was not sincere in reinstatement of deposed judges. They pointed out that PPP workers were murdered in Karachi but now their killers have been declared innocent. They said Benazir was a true leader but now America's crony had occupied presidency. President LHCBA Anwar Kamal said the lawyers resolve on the eve of 60th death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam that they would continue their struggle for rule of law and independence of judiciary. He said article 270-AAA was unconstitutionally inserted in the constitution by Musharraf to pave way for Abdul Hameed Dogar. He said the lawyers thought that high courts and Supreme Court were functioning unconstitutionally. He said Zardari was elected president constitutionally but his oath taking is unconstitutional. He also condemned American attack on tribal areas and urged for immediate release of Dr Afia and his children.
