LAHORE - The Chief Minister has said that the process of progress and prosperity of the country is being resumed from where it was interrupted by a dictator who removed democratically elected government of Mian Nawaz Sharif on October 12 and plunged the country into crises. Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the whole nation should stand united to foil the designs of those external forces, which are bent up damaging the country. He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of construction of Main Boulevard, Sabzazar, under the programme of repair and construction of the roads of the City, here on Thursday. The ceremony was also participated by Provincial Minister, Ch Abdul Ghafoor, assembly members including, Mian Marghoob Ahmad, Bilal Yasin, Malik Afzal Khokhar, Malik Riaz, Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad and Chairman Task Force, Kh Ahmad Hassan. Senior officers of concerned departments were also present on the occasion. He said that the country had been on a downward slide during the last eight years and all sectors had seen ruination. He said that present government would serve the masses selflessly and would strive for their welfare and prosperity. The Chief Minister said that in order to provide relief to masses during the holy month of Ramzan, Punjab government was ensuring provision of essential items to citizens at reasonable rates as well as supplying 20kg atta bag at Rs300. He said that efforts were also being made by administration on his instructions for ensuring availability of Roti at Rs 2. He said that Punjab government was providing a subsidy of two billion rupees for providing sasta atta to masses. He said that Sabzazar would be made Sabzazar in the real sense and all problems faced by the people of the area would be resolved. He said that 70 tubewells would start functioning in the next few days for providing potable water to Lahorites. During his speech when Shahbaz asked about supply of atta at the fixed prices, he was told that atta was available in abundant quantity. The Chief Minister said that in order to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state we should forge unity in our ranks and play our due role at individual and collective level for national solidarity and prosperity. He said that we should fervently pray for the survival and a bright future of Pakistan in the holy month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak. He said that national resources were not meant for acquiring planes, luxurious vehicles and palatial houses and offices but should be used for the alleviation of living standard of poor and solution of people's problems and other hardships. Every penny of national exchequer would be utilised for the welfare and betterment of the masses, he added. The function was also addressed by Mian Marghoob Ahmad MNA, Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad MPA and Chairman Task Force Kh Ahmad Hassan who paid rich tributes to Chief Minister on initiating development projects in Sabzazar. Earlier, Col Arsalan of Frontier Works Organisation while giving a briefing about development projec ts in Sabzazar said that several roads would be constructed in the area at a cost of 350 million rupees.
