LAHORE: The Lahore High Court today dismissed a petition seeking directions to place the name of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Election Commissioner on exit control list.

A local citizen Syed Iqtiar Shah had filed the petition stating that a chit was recovered from the ballot box during presidential election back in 1998. He said it was an anti-Pakistan chit as someone had written against the ideology of Pakistan and Pakistani state. The petitioner said that the then authorities announced to investigate the matter and fix responsibility on the real perpetrators but no action was taken so far. Mr. Shah submitted that neither the PM nor the ECP fulfilled their duties. Who was the person there who dared to attack Pakistan by putting an anti-state chit in the ballot box, he questioned. The petitioner prayed to the court to punish PM and ECP in accordance with law for their alleged failure to investigate and reach the real culprits.

After hearing some arguments of the petitioner Justice Syed Mansoor Ali shah dismissed the petition.
