The Multan electric Power Company (Mepco) has punished 2514 officers and workers during ongoing financial year for poor performance, harming company’s interests, failure in achieving recovery tasks and increase in line losses.

Mepco sources disclosed on Tuesday that 30 Mepco workers were terminated while four others compulsorily retired between July 2015 and February 2016. Similarly, at least 22 officials were demoted while 15 officers and workers were made to pay for the losses the company faced due to them. Sources said that the company also issued order for halting annual increments and promotions of 367 officers and officials while 2076 were issued serious warning.

Giving further details, the Mepco sources said that one Junior Engineer/SDO was terminated while three others were demoted. Similarly, the increments or promotions of 44 SDOs/Assistant Managers were halted while 74 others were issued warning.
