Defending female champions Sindh crushed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 45-0 in the 15th National Men & Women Netball Championship 2016 match played here at Hamidi Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Federal Special Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui was the chief guest at the opening ceremony and also declared the event open in a colourful inaugural ceremony, which was also attended by PSB Director General Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) president Mudassar Arain, vice presidents Malik Sameen Khan and Uzma Umer, secretary M Riaz, Azam Dar, Director (NF) Pakistan Sports Board and other dignities.

In the inaugural match, Sindh faced some stiff resistance before wrapping up the match 24-16. Quratul Ain and Anum Salam from Sindh performed well scoring 12 and 9 goals for the winners. In the second match, Wapda beat LUMS 1-0; Army beat Fata 32-0, Punjab beat Islamabad 29-1, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beat LUMS 1-0, Islamabad beat Fata 13-4 and in the last match of the day, Sindh crushed sorry KP 45-0 in their second match of the day. In the male category, defending champions Army thrashed KP 42-7, Sindh outpaced Police 42-7, Wapda hammered Fata 46-7 and PAF beat Punjab 31-14.

Speaking at the occasion, Shoaib Siddiqui lauded the PNF for holding such a wonderful event. He congratulated participating teams and hope the matches would be held in true sporting spirit and the teams would follow discipline and show sportsman spirit.
