LAHORE - The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Department (CPWD) arranged a ceremony on eve of International Day for Street Children yesterday.

MNA Gazala Saad Rafique participated as chief guest in the ceremony along with Chairperson CPWB Saba Sadiq and a large number of street children living in the CPI joined the gathering at the head office here.

Addressing the ceremony, Gazala Saad Rafique said that the children living in the Children Protection Institution have been provided best facilities.

Different food stalls, face paintings stalls were set up, besides puppet and magic shows for the children.

Every year International Day for Street Children is celebrated on April 12. This year the street children day was celebrated worldwide with the theme of ‘Identity’.

CPWB chairperson Saba Sadiq said that the Punjab government was paying attention on the nourishment and progress of the street children.

Last year, in collaboration with NADRA, the CPWB started registration of street children and to this date it has registered the data of 144 children with NADRA. All of the children who recovered in the raids were shifted to the CPI Children Projection Institute.
