LAHORE-Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira has challenged PML-N to move a resolution in the National Assembly seeking trial of former president Pervez Musharraf, saying that political parties not supporting the resolution would be exposed before the nation. 'The PPP doesnt need any lesson on democracy and Article-6. If Opposition wants trial of Pervez Musharraf, it is free to move resolution in the Parliament, Kaira said while addressing a seminar organised by PPP Punjab on the topic of 'Freedom and Heroes of Democracy here on Wednesday. President PPP Punjab Rana Aftab, General Secretary Samiullah Khan, President Lahore Chaudhry Asghar Gujjar, Lahore Secretary Information, Azhar Mughal Aslam Gurdaspuri, Usman Salim Malik, senior journalist Iftikhar Ahmed and others addressed the seminar. The minister said that instead of casting doubts on other parties intentions regarding trial of former dictator, PML-N should show courage and bring a resolution in National Assembly to expose the political forces that dont support it. The PPP, he said, had a long history of struggle and sacrifices against dictatorship, and hence it did not need any lecture on Article 6 of the Constitution. Kaira said his party believed in politics of reconciliation, saying that it had removed the dictator (Pervez Musharraf) through dialogue without a single bullet fired on anybody. He said Pakistan could not afford any agitation under the present circumstances. Earlier, while talking to media at another seminar held at Allama Iqbal Medical College, in Lahore, Kaira said the govt would follow the courts verdict in Pervez Musharrafs case. He said all the citizens of Pakistan had the right to get registered cases against their grievances. Addressing the seminar organised by PPP at Alhamra here, Kaira said that the opponents were unduly criticising President Asif Ali Zardaris visits abroad, unmindful of the fact that country cannot afford diplomatic isolation at the moment. He further stated that whenever the opponents had nothing else to say, they would come up with minus-Zardari formula. He reminded the audience that the issue of minus-one formula was also raised in the time of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, but opponents had to eat humble pie at that time too. He alleged that a section of media was involved in PPP bashing, but ,added, that anti-PPP campaign was not new for party leaders as the same was also initiated in 1968 and 1988. Lauding medias role during the dictatorial regime of Pervez Musharraf, he said that govt held the media in high esteem, but targeting of PPP by some elements in media was unacceptable. He said opponents were targeting PPP as they were finding it hard to digest its achievements on various fronts. He accused PPP critics of not portraying facts before the nation. He said PPP successfully tackled the issue of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) as against the expectations of its opponents. He said PPP could have formed its govt in Punjab while using all those tactics which were used against it in the past, but it did not do so for the sake of national reconciliation. He said the opponents also raised the issue of Rental Power projects in Parliament suspecting misappropriation of Rs 80 billion. But after lengthy discussion on the subject for four days, corruption of not a single penny could be proved.. Talking about Balochistan, he said that Government would soon unfold a constitutional and economic package for the province to address grievances of Baloch people. He said it was due to wrong policies of previous govt that Baloch people were forced to talk of separation from Pakistan. He also declared that federal govt would announce a special package for the labourers on August 14 under which they would be made partners in the business.
