Rawalpindi - The police and Pakistan Rangers on Friday held a joint flag march to make people feel secure on the eve of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

The flag march was conducted on the routes of mourning processions of Chehlum across the city which was participated by a heavy contingent of police including Superintendent of Police (SP) Rawal Division Karamat Ullah Malik, who was also leading the march, and Pakistan Rangers.

Several vehicles of police and Pakistan Rangers took part in the flag march, which started and culminated at Police Line Number 1 after passing through Sadiqabad, Transformer Chowk, Sadiqabad, Kuri Road, Ali Road, Chah Sultan, Glass Factory, Dhoke Hukamdad, Rawal Road, Zafar-ul-Haq Road, Committee Chowk, Fawara Chowk, Raja Bazaar, Dingi Khoee, Jamia Masjid Road and Masjid Imambargah Qadeemi.

On the other hand, the district government has imposed a complete ban on pillion riding in the city for December 13.

SSP/Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Shoaib Khurram Janbaz said that the government imposed complete ban on pillion riding in the city in a bid to provide foolproof security to the mourning processions. He asked the citizens to obey ban and avoid pillion riding or else strict action would be taken against the violators. He also instructed the wardens, beat in-charges and sector in-charges to deal violators with iron hand on the occasion of Chehlum.
