LAHORE - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has assured that poor will get free treatment at the Punjab Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute and Research Centre - country’s first medical facility of its kind.

After a meeting with Board of Governors of the centre in which he discussed the project in detail, the chief minister promised that his government would continue to provide all out assistance for its completion. “The Punjab government has allocated 50 acres of land for this project in Lahore Knowledge Park. And our government will provide Rs13 billion for its construction and provision of facilities,” he added.

He further said that the hospital would consist of 750 beds, while a medical university would be set up besides medical and nursing colleges.

Shahbaz Sharif said that an independent and autonomous Board of Governors had been formed to look after the financial and administrative affairs of the facility.

President BoGs Dr Saeed Akhtar also expressed his hope for the early completion of the project and transparency in each and every affair.

Talking to his party legislators from various districts the CM said the PML-N has proved its public friendly policies by reducing the tariff substantially, following the double cuts in fuel prices.

He said that provision of relief to the people was the agenda of incumbent government. “Serving people is our mission. We are spending billions of rupees on different projects aimed to provide relief to the masses,” he added.

Criticising once again the recent wave of protests in the country, Shahbaz Sharif said that the politics of chaos had caused huge loss to national economy. “Whole nation is depressed over this politics of protest and wants a responsible attitude from the politicians,” he commented while stressing on the need of unity and sacrifice.

“It is the time to rise above personal and party interests and strive for national progress and prosperity of masses,” the CM underlined.

He said that no one would be allowed to hamper the process of national development and prosperity, adding that the nation would never forgive those who were tarnishing the image of Pakistan through protest.
