OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Doctors continued strike at Sheikh Zayed Hospital on Saturday to protest against registration of FIR against five healthcare providers of the health facility. The protesting medics closed down outdoor department and operation theatres, creating difficulties for the visiting patients who left with no other option except to approach nearby public sector hospitals and private clinics. However, ICU, CCU and emergency continued to work as per normal routine. Doctors, nurses and paramedical staff also held a demonstration outside the health facility to press for the demand of withdrawal of FIR against five senior doctors. The protesting medics marched to the campus bridge at noon, creating worst traffic mess in the close vicinity of SZH. Addressing the participants of the rally, officebearers of PMA and YDA said that in the presence of the Health Care Commission Act 2010, the police could not register a case against any healthcare provider. They said that registration of FIR was illegal and it should be withdrawn. They threatened to extend the protest to all over the province if FIR was not withdrawn. Meanwhile, PMA has called a meeting of its 36 district branches on Sunday (today) to finalise the future line of action. Entrance test: University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Saturday announced to hold entrance test for admission to all on-campus and off-campus postgraduate courses, including MPhil, MS, MD, MDS and postgraduate diplomas on November 19 in the afternoon.
