KARACHI - The National Fertilisers Company officials on Saturday informed President Zardari that gas shortage was a hurdle to production of fertilisers, but the president urged them to ensure the supply of fertilisers for Rabi crop during a meeting at the Bilawal House here. According to sources, the National Fertilisers Company officials also told the president that the company was facing crisis due to gas shortage. Chairing another meeting of senior leaders of the party at Bilawal House, the president also directed to take disciplinary action against the party office-bearers who violate the party discipline, Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro said while briefing the media persons about the details of the meeting. The president directed the Sindh chief minister to remove inactive and indisciplined office-bearers of the party from provincial positions to districts as well as local level and appoint active and loyal persons on these posts. Zardari, who is also the co-chairman of the PPP, directed PPP Sindh chief Qaim Ali Shah to initiate reorganisation of the party at district level and assign the posts active persons to strengthen the party. He said that general elections would be held on time, neither before nor after the schedule of completing the five-year term by the democratically elected government. The president said that he would visit the flood-hit areas of the Sindh province from next week. He also hinted change in the partys Karachi Division setup soon. The president directed the leaders to organise the party in the Sindh province for local government elections. To a question, Soomro said that though the meeting did not discuss the reshuffling in the Sindh cabinet, yet the president could take decision in this regard during his visit in the next week. Later, the president chaired another meeting to discuss the matters of Auqaf Department of Sindh. After the meeting, Provincial Minister for Auqaf Dr Muhammad Rafiq Bhanbhan told the media that the president directed the department to renovate the shrine of Hazarat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar and ensure transparency and quality in the repair work. The president also resolved longstanding issue budget for the salaries of 750 employees of the Auqaf Department. He also directed the authorities concerned to establish a branch of Sindh Bank and construct restaurant at Sehwan Sharif immediately. Chairing another meeting regarding preparations of Rabi crop with the authorities of the National Fertiliser Company to provide fertiliser to the Sindh government within a week for Rabi crop as the provincial government has already made payment. The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Makhdoom Amin Fahim and Naveed Qamar, Senator Raza Rabbani, Faryal Talpur, Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, provincial ministers Pir Mazharul Haq, Agha Siraj Durrani, Manzoor Hussain Wassan, Nadir Magsi and Syed Murad Ali Shah.
