KARACHI - At least four people were killed in separate incidents of violence here on Saturday.

An activist of defunct Sipaha-e-Sahaba Pakistan was found dead from Gulshan-e-Hadeed near National Highway. Police found the body and shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he was identified as Ali, 47.  According to ASWJ spokesperson, he was the brother-in-law of ASWJ president of Sukkur region, Maulana Ramzan Naumani.

He was on his way to Hyderabad from his home in Sukkur on Friday when some unidentified persons kidnapped him and later dumped his shot dead body.

Prem Gul, 41, was found dead from Rexor Lane. Police officials said the victim was hailed from Larkana and was shot dead after kidnapping by unidentified persons over unexplained reasons.

Meanwhile, a man killed his mother over the issue of his second marriage.

A woman, Shamim Sultan, was killed inside her house in Faqir Colony. Police said she had her second marriage and her first husband’s three sons slaughtered her on tying knot for the second time. The culprits were escaped while further investigation was underway.

A man killed his wife’s ex-husband over family dispute here in the jurisdictions of Sachal police station.

Chaudhry Aslam, 42, was found dead from inside his house at Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth. Police officials said the man was killed after being hit by a sharp material on his head. The man Waqas Raja, to whom his wife got second marriage, killed him over family dispute and escaped. Further investigation was underway.

Moreover, a college girl was abused by a rickshaw driver whom she took to reach home located at North Karachi from her college in Sakhi Hassan area.

The girl was found in unconscious condition in Phase-I, Defence under mysterious circumstances. Locals informed the police and later she was shifted to JPMC for treatment. She was later shifted to her home after initial treatment.

Meanwhile, Drug Enforcement Cell of Pakistan Customs have seized around one kilogramme heroin from a passenger at Karachi Airport on Saturday. 

The customs team at Jinnah International Airport has recovered 1.125 kg of heroin powder from the possession of a passenger namely Ghulam Hussain leaving for Riyadh Saudi Arabia by Gulf Air via Bahrain on flight GF-751. The heroin was concealed very cleverly in the cavities of the suitcase.

The passenger was arrested and an FIR has been lodged. Further investigation was underway.

Meanwhile, over 161 criminal elements were booked during the targeted operation continuing here on Saturday.

Police claimed to have conducted 111 raids across the city while made some eight encounters to arrest 161 criminals, terrorists, extortionists and accused persons involved in various sort of crimes. They arrested person, included 75 absconders. At least 24 suspects were held under Arms Act and 11 over possession narcotics. Some three accused persons were booked under terrorists attacks and 16 were arrested on the charges of robberies. Police also claimed to have arrested a target killer, one extortionist and recovered 41 weapons of different calibre.

Sindh Rangers, contributing along with the police in the operation, have arrested 13 accused persons in a raid conducted at the hideout of Ustad Tajju, notorious Lyari gangster, at Khadda Market, Lyari and recovered weapons, including SMGs.

On the other side, Rangers had also conducted targeted raids in New Karachi, Qasba Colony, Jacob Lines, FC Area, Orangi Sector 1/C, Ranchore Line, Usmanabad, Behar Colony, Korangi No 5, North Karachi Sector - 11-D, Muhammad Nagar – Lyari, Hussain Hazara Goth and Surjani Sector 5-D areas on Friday night. Snap checking was also carried out at Manzil Pump – Bin Qasim, Hub Check Post – Baldia and 89 Exchange – Landhi areas.

During the raids, 20 hardened criminals, including Lyari gang war criminals affiliated with political groups, involved in heinous crimes have been arrested. Rangers also claimed to have recovered weapons in raids.
