LAHORE - With a delay of six years, a sessions court on Saturday sentenced to death the murderer of his friend.

Convict Akbar Munir killed his friend Tahir Nadeem over a dispute at a booze party in 2007.

The Ichra Police registered a case against Akbar and his accomplice Rashid Butt on the complaint of deceased’s father and submitted charge sheet to the court.

On October 12, 2013, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Tariq Javed sentenced to death Akbar Munir and acquitted Rashid.

Rashid was acquitted on the benefit of doubt.


Unidentified motorcyclists gunned down a 40-year-old man at the office of a private agency in the Shafiqabad area, police said Saturday.

Muhammad Shafiq was sitting in the office of Umair Goods Transport Company located in the Kasurpura area when two unidentified men appeared there, opened straight fire at him, and fled away on a motorcycle. The man sustained multiple bullet wounds and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him as brought dead. Police investigators say they believe the man was killed over old enmity.

The police removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating with no arrest made yet.
