MULTAN-Over 5,600 cops will perform security duty in Multan Range on Eidul Azha as the office of Regional Police Officer (RPO) released security plan on Monday. The plan disclosed that 5,630 police personnel would be deployed for the security of 2,044 masjids in Multan Range. The security plan said that the SPs, DSPs and Inspectors would remain in field on the Eid day and the entire situation would be monitored through CCTV cameras. Sources said that a control room had also been set up at RPO office.

In Multan district, as many as 848 Eid congregations will take place and 1842 police personnel as well as 848 volunteers will be deployed to secure the gatherings. Police sources said that four SPs, 11 DSPs, 33 Inspectors, 308 SIs and ASIs as well as 1486 constables will perform Eid security duty besides 848 volunteers. The special branch personnel have started sweeping the major eid congregation venues to avert any untoward incident. Sources further revealed that a strict ban would remain imposed on collection of animal skins by the banned extremist organizations while action would also be taken against anyone using loudspeaker to collect animal skins. Meanwhile, the police authorities have also urged upon the masses to inform nearest police station or 15 if they trace any suspicious person or activity around them.

Meanwhile, an advisory issued by the police department asked the citizens to refrain from offering Eid prayer at open places and perform this religious ritual inside a boundary wall. It further asked the organizers of the Eid congregations to fix one spot for entry and exit, install walkthrough gate and use metal detectors for the detection of explosives. The organizers are asked to carry out thorough physical search of the people.
