London-Chiwetel Ejiofor has said that he would be up for playing the villain in the next James Bond film.

The actor had been linked to the bad guy role in Bond 24 opposite Daniel Craig, according to recent reports.

Variety revealed that despite some scheduling issues that need ironing out, the Oscar-nominated star is at the top of Sony’s list for the next film.

Ejiofor, while not confirming the rumours, has said that he would be up for the part.

According to Yahoo! Movies, when asked if he would like the role, Chiwetel nodded and said: ‘It’s not for me to talk about that really, but it’s an extraordinary franchise obviously.’

His coy answer does seem to suggest that an offer might have been thrown his way, and even better is the fact that Ejiofor appears quite keen. Plus, he and Craig are great actors and their scenes together would be electric.

Skyfall, the 23rd Bond film, starred Oscar-winner Javier Bardem as Bond villain Silva. His performance earned him a BAFTA nomination.

Production on Bond 24 is tipped to start in the summer in order to meet the film’s slated November 6, 2015 release date.
