The murder “mystery” of former PML-N MPA took a new turn when his elder son confessed to the police that he had gunned down his father and younger brother. The Pirmahal police have also recovered the pistol with which Rao Azhar killed his father MPA Rao Iqbal and his younger brother Rao Athar over a property dispute.

The incident occurred couple of days ago and the accused claimed before police that his brother had committed suicide after killing their father.

DPO Rana Shahzad Akbar told newsmen that Azhar was an addict and the police had recovered 29 narcotic injections from his possession. The police officer claimed that the accused was demanding money and his share in the property from his deceased father and brother.

AWP RALLY AGAINST ARRESTS: Scores of Awami Workers Party activists took out a rally in protest against the arrest of 18 activists of the party by the Islamabad police. The police arrested the activists when they protesting against the demolition of katchi abadi Sector I-10 last week.

The rally started from Shorkot Road and the participants, after marching through different roads, reached Shahbaz Chowk where AWP leaders - Zubair Chaudhry, Comrade Aslam, Ghulam Sarwar, Akaash Ashfaq and NSF leader Hafiz Huzaifa addressed the protesters.

They demanded immediate release of the arrested AWP activists. They also demanded the allotment of alternative land to the poor people of katchi abadi in Sector I-10.

Later, AWP and NSF office bearers observed a daylong token hunger strike in a camp set up outside TMA Complex on Jhang Road.
