LAHORE - Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust has arranged a flag-hoisting ceremony today at the Aiwan-i-Karkunan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan.

NPT Chairman Rafique Tarar will unfurl the flag. Besides laying a wreath of flowers on the memorial of the martyrs of the Pakistan Movement in the Madar-i-Millat Park, a session of prayers will also be held for the elevation of the souls of the martyrs.

Later, a special ceremony will be held in the Wyne Hall with Tarar in the chair and Pakistan Movement workers as the guests of honour. The special ceremony has jointly been organised by the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust and the Pakistan Movement Workers Trust.

As part of the Independence Day celebrations, NPT held a special sitting on Thursday addressed by Absar Abdul Ali, Prof Muhammad Hanif Shahid, Begum Bushra Rehman and MK Anwar Baghdadi.

The Pakistan Movement Workers including Ghulam Jafar Salar, Engr Muhammad Tufail Malik, Nawazish Ali Butt and a large number of students, teachers and people belonging to various departments of life were also present on the occasion.

Absar Abdul Ali observed 14th August 1947 was the last day of the Indian Muslims’ struggle for freedom marked by fire and blood, and the first day that was precursory of an ideal state constructed in consonance with the Quaid-i-Azam’s and Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s vision.

Begum Burshra Rehman spoke of the empowerment of the youth of Pakistan, saying wherever they come across an irregularity, an excess or a social evil, they must openly pronounce their condemnation without any fear or hesitation.

Prof Hanif Shahid referred to the unprecedented acts of sacrifice made by the Indian Muslims in order to achieve their own homeland.

MK Anwar Baghdadi asked the fellow countrymen to value the homeland above everything else.
