LAHORE- A meeting of Pakistani, Iranian and Turkish railways officials and business chambers will be held in Pakistan to finalise the arrangements for the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) train to be operated between Pakistan and Turkey via Iran.

According to a press release issued here on Thursday, it was decided in a meeting presided over by PR Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique at Turkish Railways headquarters in Turkey while the meeting date for the ECO train will be announced soon. Several matters of common interest including the ECO train, locomotives manufacturing at Locomotive Factory Risalpur and manufacturing of passenger coaches and goods coaches at Rawalpindi Carriage Factory on transfer of technology (ToT) basis, transfer of traction motors technology to Pakistan, upgradation of railways station in Pakistan and investment of the Turkish companies in the country were discussed in the meeting.

Saad Rafique said that there were vast possibilities of investment in Pakistan Railways for Turkish investors and Railways with the cooperation of the government would provide all out facilities for this purpose. The minister also visited the Railway tunnel under the Bosphorus Strait and appreciated the expertise of the Turkish engineers.
