Anti Smuggling Intelligence Squad seized a huge quantity of the smuggled electric appliances including radios, home theatres, mobile phones, LCDs and LEDs from a truck during a special checking on main GT Road near Pindi Bhattian.

According to Model Customs Collectorate Sialkot officials, the electronics had been smuggled from China, Iran and Afghanistan and were being transported to Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore and Gujranwala for their sale in the local markets. The officials added that the squad has arrested the accused truck driver and his helper.

Likewise, a team of Agriculture Department raided a fertilisers’ shop located on Sialkot-Eimanabad Road and seized spurious fertilisers, weighing 26,700 kg.

EDO (Agriculture) Abdul Sami Tahir said that the shop had been sealed and the Sialkot Saddar police registered a case against two accused Mian Ilyas and Anwar Qureshi for selling and stocking spurious fertilisers. The police have sent the accused behind bars.

Meanwhile, the local administration has sealed five restaurants and fast food outlets in Pasrur city for selling and serving stale and substandard eatables there. Assistant Commissioner Tauqeer Ilyas Cheema said that the police have also arrested the owners of these sealed restaurants.
