LAHORE - Postgraduate Doctors Association Punjab (PDA) has announced to observe black day on December 19 in all hospitals of the province against the government policy to victimize entire doctors community for negligence of one doctor. A meeting of PDA held on Sunday under the chair of its president Dr Abdul Rauf condemned the large-scale punitive action of Punjab Government against all doctors and staff of the Doctors Hospital for negligence of just one doctor in the death of a three-year-old girl, Imanae Malik. According to a press release, the meeting regretted that very senior physician and doctors were being humiliated and insulted by police in the case whereas in similar circumstances doctors in civilized world are not handcuffed, imprisoned and they are not subjected to tortures in such cases. PDA President Dr M Abdul Rauf said the doctors who have no link with tragedy are also being dragged in the case and some innocent doctors are still in the police custody. The families are much disturbed by the attitude of the government and the health department towards doctors as police is misbehaving with the senior doctors, which is highly condemnable. Dr Khalid who is in police custody is a heart patient and he may die due to torture and humiliation by the police, PDA president said. In a hand out, the doctors association warned the government that the illegal and unlawful bullying of the doctors be stopped immediately otherwise entire doctors community will come on the roads against the government.
