KARACHI - Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira on Sunday said that the Special Parliamentary Committee on Constitution Reform will complete its recommendations in couple of weeks to repeal 17th amendment, saying that 1973 constitution will be restored into its original shape. He expressed these views while talking to media people during his visit to the newly established PPP Sindh Media Cell here on Sunday. PPP Sindh General Secretary Taj Haider, Media Cell In-charge Sharjeel Memon, CM advisor Waqar Mehdi and other PPP leaders were present on the occasion. Kaira said that all the stakeholders were on the consensus to restore the 1973 Constitution into its real spirit and also resolved the old demands of the provinces through by giving them provincial autonomy. He further said that present democratic government of PPP was addressing the core issues of the country for sustainable, long-term development and provision of relief to the people saying that the PPP government was addressing the core issues that had been swept under the carpet by the successive government in the past. He said that the PPP has not defended the NRO in assembly and also not defend the NRO in the apex court, saying that former regime had not presented the NRO on the demand of PPP, adding that the government wanted the restriction of third time prime minister to go away. Kaira said that the government would welcome the decision of the Supreme Court on NRO. The federal information minister said that since the 1970, media trial of the PPP had been continued but the PPP would not hesitate from media trial and would defend the party of masses on every front. He said that those forces which did not like that democratic culture in the country were targeting the leadership of the PPP because these forces believed that from their action PPP would split. He pointed out that the history born testimony to the fact that the PPP always faced such challenges in their struggle, saying that the past government misdeeds also negatively propagate against the PPP government. He said that the PPP government was always resolved the major issues of the country, saying that previous rulers only governed the country for time passing but they had failed to resolve the issues faced by the country. He said that poor people money only wasted on the name of subsidy in the former regimes but the PPP government is giving a subsidy which give direct benefit to the poor masses of the country. Kaira maintained that the PPP government nominated Public Account Committee Chairman who is also Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to do accountability of the PPP government, which has never happened in the past regimes. He said that consensus among the provinces on the 7th NFC Award was the great achievement of PPP government and it would end the voice of dissent among the provinces. He said that Pakistan was fighting its own war against the religious fundamentalism and its war of our integrity and sovereignty and all the expenses on war on terror is being born by the federal govt. He vowed that the government would not left alone the NWFP government and people in the testing time. He said that due to recession in world economy, many developed countries sacked employees from different companies and thousands made jobless but the PPP govt better economics policies not a single person sacked by the government but government had employed thousands of people and regularized the contractual and daily wagers. He added that the government had already started a survey of Poverty House Holding, which would be completed soon. The federal minister that the PPP strongly believe in self-reliance policy and its possible when country would be economically sound and not dependable on foreign aid. He said that the top priority of the government was to protect the interest of country not the interest of the US. He said that first we should set our home in order and only accusing on others could not resolve our problem. Talking about the PPP Sindh Media Cell, he said that such media cells would also set up in different cities to counter the propaganda against democratic government.
